The examples in this folder illustrate some simple ways applications can use the new Speech Recognition Manager API. Please see the accompanying Speech Recognition Manager documentation for more details about the toolbox.
They are not intended to be full functional applications and should be used only as examples while you are learning the Speech Recognition Manager API.
MakeStrLanguageModel
An example function library which will build a speech recognition language model from STR# resource(s).
Tiny SR Example
This code is not very good Macintosh code, but it illustrates very simple use of the Speech Recognition Manager API in an application.
Speakable Items Example
SpeakableItems is a sample application that uses the new Speech Recognition Manager API. It has a few predefined commands, and you can say as a command the name of anything in the speakable items folder in the apple menu items folder. This demonstrates the use of refcons to parse the result from a more complex language model.
IM SR Example
This example combines all the sample code from the Speech Recognition Manager documentation into a functional application. It uses the SIOUX window and is designed to work with CodeWarrior IDE 1.4 (CW8) or later. Each of the sample routines is in a separate file. Only the main.c relies on CodeWarrior and SIOUX the window.
Weapons Example
This is the example that was demonstrated at the Computer Game Developers Conference April 1996. The application consists of a simple window with a picture of the "current weapon." You can use the arrow keys to switch between weapons, or speak their names, as listed in the "Vocabulary" text file. As an exercise, you might want to improve the user interface of this application by displaying a second window with the vocabulary in it. This example is designed to work with CodeWarrior IDE 1.4 (CW8) or later, although the source files should work with any development environment.
